Further Activities
Sagawa studied abroad in Russia at the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory as a scholarship recipient of a short-term study abroad program supported by Tokyo College of Music. Among his overseas experiences, he won the Most Promising Award at Villa Sandra Piano Academy in Italy and also furthered his studies, sucha as training at Chetham’s International Piano Summer School in the U.K.
Regarding his performance career, he has been appearing in numerous concerts for both solo and chamber ensembles. Some of the highlights are performances with the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra and the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, and Mozart’s Piano Concerto No.21 with the Tokyo City Philharmonic Orchestra in February 2023, being selected as a soloist for the orchestra’s subscription concert at Tiara Koto, which was well received.
Currently, he continues his studies at the graduate school of Tokyo College of Music and works as a part-time performance researcher at the same college.
Repertoire
Sagawa has been studying various works ranging from Baroque to modern to contemporary, and expanding his repertoire in recent years, especially classical pieces written by composers such as Mozart and Beethoven. He used to enjoy working on technical, virtuoso pieces, but now he is interested in classical pieces having fewer notes, each with a more substantial meaning.
In addition to solo works, Sagawa also has a large repertoire for piano trios and duos.
