Synopsis |
One day, the school bus filled with children is attacked by aliens, the Globolinks. The only way to hold the Globolinks back is acoustic music (without electric effects). So Emily, the only one to be counted on to save the children, confronts them with a violin in her hand. |
About the Production |
The Tokyo Bunka Kaikan Opera BOX, which started in 2004, is our popular series to let people enjoy opera performances in a casual atmosphere. Since its acclaimed premiere in 2017, “Help, Help, the Globolinks!” returns to the stage for the first time after 6 years. What makes this work unique is the electric sounds with which the American composer Menotti describes the invaders, contrasting with acoustic sounds for the humans who confront them. Telling the importance of live music with humor, this opera captivates people beyond generation, especially with a nod to them in this significantly digitalized modern era. |
