Music Program TOKYO Workshop Workshop! 2020 on stage & legacy Professional Training for Musicians with the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra Lectures and training for the art activities leading to social inclusion
There are a growing need and increasing attention for activities which spotlight the inclusivity of arts in recent years. Such movement introduced legislation for promoting artistic activities for people with disabilities. On the other hand, we, as practitioners of "arts activities leading to social inclusion," are still trying to figure out how to handle those activities and how to deliver them with higher quality.
The Tokyo Bunka Kaikan, therefore, launched lectures and skill-up training to sort out the points we need to understand on practicing "arts activities leading to social inclusion." The focus will be on performing arts such as music and dance.
This training welcomes the musicians as trainers from the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, an English orchestra that has been delivering unique and cutting-edge activities.
Their work has been highly praised, deeply committed to the local communities including multigenerational communities and other various socially challenging communities.
Notably, "BSO Resound," the world's first professional disabled-led ensemble has been drawing attention around the globe. Their performances include one at the BBC Proms.
At the training, the members of the BSO are going to share their secrets to develop socially inclusive arts activities with higher quality through their case studies (hardships), experiences, and know-how.

Program A Sun, Nov 24 11:00-16:30 An orchestra conducting experience is not the only way to become a protagonist. This training is to develop activities in which every participant plays a key role. Let’s try a 10-15 minute interactive activity you can bring in to your outreach concerts, learning the practical methods and skills. Program B Mon, Nov 25 13:00-17:00, Tue, Nov 26 10:30-16:00 This program provides training to conduct music activities building with diverse people. The onsite training teaches us how to create improvisational music with each diverse participant playing the leading role and how to set up the best locale for the activity. Let’s say you want to create a song or a melody from a musical fragment picked up from a participant. What kind of methods can be used? On day 2, we will join the workshop with the diverse participants including the elderly or people with disabilities to accumulate experiences. The workshop is followed by the participants’ reviewing, and their experiences and perceptions will be shared with the trainers.
