Music Program TOKYO Workshop Workshop! Convivial Project
Lectures and Training for the Art Activities Leading to Social Coexistence
with Amagasaki Youth Creative Theater of Hyogo Prefecture
There are a growing need and increasing attention for activities which spotlight the diversity in the arts in recent years. Such movement introduced legislation for promoting art activities for people with disabilities.
At the Tokyo Bunka Kaikan, we strive to create a society with diversity and conviviality, which requires a higher standard of art activities. To achieve our goal, we have set up lectures and training sessions with Japanese and international experts on each theme. By understanding and sorting out the current situation and challenges in this field, we will explore effective ways to tackle these issues and elevate the quality of our art activities.

The Amagasaki Youth Creative Theater of Hyogo Prefecture (Piccolo Theater) and the Hyogo Prefectural Piccolo Theater Company have been running a series of social inclusion activities deeply engaged with local areas, leading to high praise, including winning the Japan Association for Arts Management Award and the commendation for the promotion of barrier-free universal design honored by the Prime Minister and Minister of State. In this program, you will attend a lecture and a hands-on workshop led by lecturers from the theater. Through their insight on accessibility services for people with visual impairments and deaf and hard-of-hearing people and the workshop for foreign residents in local communities, “Nihongo de asobo! (Let’s play using Japanese!),” we will think about what we can do to achieve a society where everyone lives comfortably with arts and culture activities held at theaters. This training will be the second edition of which was well received last year. Let’s explore the best way to make theaters that engage with everyone.
Program to be featured: First Half Session (Lecture) ⁃ About social inclusion activities of the Hyogo Prefectural Piccolo Theater Company ⁃ Outline of “Accessibility Services” for people with visual impairments and deaf and hard-of-hearing people ⁃ Making process from selecting the performance for providing “Accessibility Services” to conducting the actual services ⁃ Case study of the workshop for foreign residents “Nihongo de asobo! (Let’s play using Japanese!)” ⁃ Earthquakes and theater plays—marking the 30th anniversary after the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake
Second Half Session (Workshop trial) ⁃ Let’s create audio guides and accessible captions! ⁃ Feedback and review
* Please join with easy-to-move outfits and shoes. |
