International Partnerships for Music Program TOKYO Workshop Workshop!
Workshop Leader Skills Training Program

Having a partnership with an overseas music institution which leads the state-of-the-art educational programs, we offer training courses to develop a personnel who can share the joy of music with new approaches to diverse people. The most outstanding participants will have a chance to visit Casa da Música (Portugal) for attending the special training program!

Program Summary
• About the program
Workshop leaders, who have the key role leading the participants of workshops, are required to have not only musical talents but also various abilities such as high communication or self-expression skills. Under the direction of workshop leaders from Casa da Música who are the international leading experts of this field, the program offers opportunities to create original workshops by groups along with the basic skill learnings. The original workshops will go public in the end. Therefore, the program is more practical than the normal lectures. We look forward to meeting you who are passionate to take a role to connect people with music in the society which is becoming more diverse than ever!

• Qualification requirements
1. Nationality: All those who are able to communicate in Japanese
2. Residence: Japan
3. Ages: age 18 or older (as of Apr 1, 2024)
4. Artists (musicians, dancers, etc.), teachers, students, and anyone who is interested in the music workshop leader skills
* Please bring in your own instruments if you play musical instruments.

A Course (Basic lessons and workshop creation)
• Outline
Learning the necessary skills for workshop leaders, the participants will get divided into groups to create original workshops which will go public in the end.

• Schedule: Thu, Jul 18–Sun, Dec 8, 2024
1. Thu, Jul 18–Sun, Jul 21
⁃ Basic lessons (lecture and hands-on activities)
⁃ Observing workshop stages open to the public
2. Mon, Jul 22–Wed, Dec 4
⁃ Workshop creation (Meetup about twice a week)
3. Fri, Dec 6–Sat, Dec 7
⁃ Workshops go public on stage.
4. Sun, Dec 8
⁃ Final meetup for feedback and certificate awarding

Jan–Mar, 2025 (TBD)
We will send about 1–3 participants of A course selected by the instructors to Casa da Música (Porto, Portugal) as trainees for attending the special training program for 1 week.

Note:
⁃  The Tokyo Bunka Kaikan bears the travel fee and accommodation (in Portugal) expenses.
⁃  The workshop created through this program will go public as the original workshops of the Tokyo Bunka Kaikan.
⁃  The participants who attend the lessons for 5 days or more in July and December will receive a certificate.

• Maximum number of entry: Approx. 10–15
* If the applicant number exceeds the limit, the new applicants will be prioritized.

• Lesson Fee: 11,000yen
* Participants who are not chosen as the official workshop leaders can participate in the workshop creation as supporting members from Mon, Jul 22. (optional)
* It is a long-term course; however, participants must bear any commuting expenses themselves to get to the venues including the workshop creation period.

B Course (Basic lessons)

Short term course for learning basic skills required for workshop leaders.

Basic lessons
* The course does not include workshop creation.

• Maximum number of entry: Approx. 5–10
* If the applicant number exceeds the limit, the new applicants will be prioritized.

• Lesson Fee: 11,000yen
* Participants must bear any commuting expenses themselves to get to the venues.

* Any personal information provided is handled with care and we strictly limit the use to this program only.
* Attendees must agree to the term that photography and video recording may occur during the training for our publicity materials.
* The program is subject to change under certain circumstances.
