Security Bag Check at the Tokyo Metropolitan Cultural Institutes
2021 Jul.06 (Tue)
The Tokyo Metropolitan Government and the Tokyo Metropolitan Foundation for History and Culture have been required to reinforce security measures at metropolitan cultural facilities in response to terrorist incidents against soft targets (*1) overseas. Therefore, the Tokyo Bunka Kaikan has been implementing baggage inspections for visitors upon entering the venue and such other occasions on a trial basis since 2017.
In the current fiscal year, in accordance with the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games, we are strengthening the security measures, including the bag check stated below, as the alert level has been raised based on the “Tokyo Metropolitan Government Facilities Performance Standards for Counterterrorism Security Alert.”
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and ask for your understanding and cooperation.
1. Bag Check Schedule
Friday, July 23–Sunday, September 5 (*2)
2. Bag Check Process
All visitors entering the building will have their baggage visually inspected by security personnel.
(Metal detectors may be used if necessary.)
*1 Soft targets: Facilities and places where an unspecified number of people gather that are not protected by the Self-Defense Forces or police (stadiums, concert halls, amusement parks, shopping malls, cultural facilities, etc.)
*2 Other than during this period, bag checks may be conducted towards the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games. (Detailed date and time will be posted on our website and other media.)
* Bag check will be conducted for all visitors entering our venue. Please allow enough time to get into our venue.
In order to ensure safety, we ask for the understanding and cooperation of all visitors.
