Currently, Wakabayashi is a part-time teacher at SHOBI College of Music and a tubist at the Tokyo New City Orchestra. In December 2019, he held his first solo recital at Space Do in Shin Okubo, Tokyo.

Other than original pieces for tuba, I have been actively performing music for strings, winds, and vocal music written by Baroque, Classical, and Romantic composers. Especially J.S.Bach and R.Schumann are my favorite and I often select their music for my concert program. I am also familiar with chamber music such as brass quintet.
