2003-08 Member of Kobe City Philharmonic Chorus (2007 Tenor Part Leader)
While as a member of Kobe City Philharmonic Chorus performed in operas such as "Cavalleria Rusticana", "Les Mamelles de Tirésias" and Mozart’s Requiem as a Soloist
2006 2nd Place, Vocal Music Category, the 26th Music Contest in Iizuka
2007 3rd Place, Vocal Music Category, the 19th Takarazuka Vega Music Competition
2008-10 Member of BIWAKO HALL Vocal Ensemble (2010 Concert Master)
While a member of the BIWAKO HALL Vocal Ensemble performed in "Turandot", "Lulu", "Salome", "La Bohème", "Tristan und Isolde" co-hosted by the Nikikai Opera Foundation
2008 Won the Special Prize, the 3rd Madama Butterfly International Competition in Nagasaki
2011 Performed in the 20th ABC Debut Concert and won the Vocal Music Category Music Award
2012 Scheduled to perform in the Kyoto Bach Chor's Matthäus-Passion as Evangelist at the Izumi Hall in Osaka

Further Activities

As a religious music soloist, Shimizu has performed in Johannes-Passion as Evangelist, Beethoven's 9th, Messiah, Die Schöpfung (The Creation) etc. in tenor solos. Performed in church, hall and outdoor stage concerts and events as well. He also does TV and radio CM recordings, school song recordings, backing vocals for Enka musicians, and national anthem solos at all types of sporting events. He is a member of the Japan Federation of Musicians, the Vocal Ensemble Kyoto, the Kamigata Opera Studio, and a soloist member of the BIWAKO HALL Vocal Music Ensemble.


I perform religious music, chamber music, pieces for small vocal ensemble and chorus as well as acapella pieces from the Baroque to the contemporary. I also sing Japanese and contemporary pieces. As for opera my strengths are lirico-leggero tenor roles across Rossini, Donizetti, Bellini etc.
