Music Program TOKYO Workshop Workshop! Convivial Project [VIDEO STREAMING] Open Lectures & Discussions Vol.4 “Music and Creative Ageing—Reflecting on working with Manchester Camerata” Lectures and Training for the Art Activities leading to Social Inclusion
The Tokyo Bunka Kaikan and the Toyonaka Performing Arts Center (Osaka) collaborated with the Manchester Camerata from August to November 2022, focusing on music programs for people living with dementia. Through this collaboration, we delivered: online lectures to think from the perspective of arts institutions, training for musicians, and hands-on workshops for people with dementia.
Dementia has now become a familiar presence to many of us. What image do you have of dementia? Music may not be able to ease or cure dementia symptoms; however, we, professional music organizations, must keep questioning what we can socially offer people with dementia to enable them to live better, fulfilling their daily lives. We have discussed that question, looking back at this three-month collaboration in Tokyo and Toyonaka City.
