Program

Background and Purpose:

What should you keep in mind to become a musician of a professional orchestra, which is said to be hard to get into?

At this seminar, we will provide an opportunity to get to know what actually orchestra auditions are. With orchestra staff members in charge of auditions as lecturers, this seminar will dive into detailed topics you usually cannot ask about. The topics include questions such as “Is it true that one can pass an audition with only good performance skills?” and “How is the orchestra’s probationary period different from general business companies?”

In addition, we will listen to a talk about experiences from one of the musicians (Tokyo Music Competition prizewinners) who became orchestra members through the difficult auditions.

Program:

⁃ Recent orchestra auditions

⁃ Qualifications for orchestra musicians

⁃ Things you should know upon applying and taking auditions

⁃ Things you should know during the probationary period

⁃ Personal experiences through the process until one officially enrolls in the orchestra

and more
